The Lincolnshire Open June 12th
Once again Lincolnshire's County Darts event had arrived and with a combined total of 132 entries for the men's and ladies, in which we were thoroughly pleased with as there are always players that can't make it on the day for various reasons.
I pride myself of making sure this event runs perfect, but it's our dedicated team of committee members that make this event a success and everyone one of our committee members should be applauded for their dedication and hard work, So thank you to Des Paula Jacklin, Gordon Lambie, Jude Johnson Timothy Johnson, Rosie Pilkington, Michelle Creasey, Dean Coe and Nikki Cheavins for making the day run beautifully.
We have a great set up at our sponsors venue the Blues Club, and we cannot thank them enough for supporting us, you really are superb and thank you for your help.
We attract players from many different counties, new faces as well as our regulars, and what makes me smile is the warm welcome we always receive when ladies and gents enter the venue. And it's so nice to hear their positive comments on how we run our event.
This year I myself thought I would try out the new facebook feature were we could go live for the finals on stage. This was done through my tablet wouldn't have wanted my phone going off on the stage, I wasn't sure how this would turn out and I wasn't expecting it to be a high quality stream, but thought lets give it a go as there is nothing to lose I didn't have time to check out the lighting on the stage which unfortunately gave a bad glare on the dart board. But its something that we will try to work on if we do this again. I was pleasantly surprised as how many people actually tuned in to watch, The viewing figures are on facebook , and I for one am happy that it worked, and hopefully this is something that other counties can do for the BICC matches and the County Open events, As its free which is always a bonus.
We would like to thank every single player and spectator for coming to the Lincs Open, Your what makes it all worthwhile and we hope you will all come again next year.
This year's Mens Champion was Barry Lynn who won £1001 and the runner up Garry Thompson and the Ladies Champion was Claire Brookin who won £401 and runner up was Paula Burgess
